White SON

A variation of the high pressure sodium, the White SON, was introduced in 1986.

It has a higher pressure than a typical HPS lamp and produces a colour temperature of about 2700K.

These are often indoors in cafes and restaurants to create a certain atmosphere.

However, they have a shorter life and a lower light efficiency.
