Starting & Warm Up

A cold Metal Halide Lamp can’t produce its full light capacity immediately. This is because the temperature and pressure in the inner arc chamber require time to reach full operating levels. Depending on the lamp type, the starting period can take a few seconds and the warm up period can be as long as five minutes. During this time the lamp exhibits different colours as the various metal halides vaporise in the arc chamber.
