Flood problems deliveries disrupted.

As everone is aware some poor people are experiencing really horrible flooding, they have our total sympathy we had a small flood in the warehouse last year and it took ages to clean up and that was “clean water”

Some of our suppliers are flooded so we will not get our regular orders as usual, also our deliveries will be delayed no only in the flooded areas themselves but also where the network has to pass through these areas.

Please be patient, we will do our best to provide the best level service as will our couriers but inevitably we are going to see some short term problems.

Electricity costs are much higher than when we last updated our calculations.

All of our calcualtions for energy saving lamps have been made assuming a price per unit or killowatt hour of 8 pence.
This is now well short of the mark as many of you will know it is more like 11 or 12 pence per unit now and very unlikely to come down.
I means energy saving lamps are even more beneficial that before, we shall have to recalculate all our sums to bring them up to date.

We have absorbed the recycling charge in almost all of our prices.

From the 1st july we have to charge you for the cost of recycling your used fluorescent lamps (that is any lamp thes does not use a metal filament to produce the light)
The fee we are being charged is 15 pence per lamp or tube regardless of the size or normal cost, obviously 15p on a £ 6.00 lamp is not a lot but 15p on a £1.00 lamp is a lot.

We have absorbed it in all but the most extreme cases. such as tubes that only cost 60 pence in the first place.

With the vast amount of money that is going to be collected by the “fees” you should see luxurious recycling centres springing up everywhere, I suspect you won’t but that would be cynical wouldn’t it.
If you have any problems please call us and we will endeavour to help.

Recycling of some lamps is now a legal requirement.

We have been recycling used lamps for over 8 years; the government has finally woken up to the problem, which is mercury!! There is a lot of mercury, which is a poison, in all types of fluorescent tubes even the little ones and your low energy lamps.
All of the lamps which do not have a metal filament i.e. all types of fluorescent lamps have to be recycled; the cost of this is included in the price you pay.
Theoretically you will be able to take them to any recycling centre and they will take them from you.
Unfortunately they have brought in the law before the recycling centers exist, they will catch up eventually but at the moment you may have difficulties.
We will always recycle any lamp we supply we always have done this however by law we now have to inform you of the official recycling facilities, here is a link to the web site of Recolight which has been set up by the manufacturers to provide the service.
The web site is www.recolight.co.uk you will find all of the information you may need.
If you have any doubts as to what does or does not need recycling then please call us and we will clarify it for you.
We have absorbed the cost of the 15 pence per bulb “fee” which is being charged to us for recycling except on the very lowest cost items where it is a large percentage of sale price.
