New Product Launch - Low Voltage White LED Dichroic Spot Light
Posted on October 27, 2005 @ 3:59 pm [Comments (0)]

White LEDs, we have been very cautious with these but now we have one which we are happy with.
As you can see they are very bright and very white they used to have a bluey tinge to them, but not any more.
With the 12 volt ones you do need to have the correct transformers, the ones you have may do the job but probably won?t.
If you do need to change them then you only need one transformer for 5 lamps so the cost is not too bad.
The transformers are ? 15.00 each so it costs about ? 3.00 per lamp on top of the purchase price.
The benefits are the massive reduction in energy costs, imagine changing you car to one that can do 750 miles per gallon instead of 30 mpg that is the magnitude of the savings we are talking about.
As you know the normal low voltage halogen lamps have a short but glorious life these LED last 30,000 hours, this means you can leave them on 24/7 for nearly 3.5 years without having to replace them.
Another benefit is the heat or lack of it, these lamps run cool, they don?t waste your energy creating heat you don?t want, this is particularly good for corridors in hotels and apartment blocks.
We firmly believe LEDs are the future of lighting.

New Product Launch - Coloured LED Dichroic Spot Lights.
Posted on October 26, 2005 @ 3:34 pm [Comments (0)]

We have some decent low voltage LEDs with good quality dichroic reflectors, they come in four colours as well UV (black light blue).

Most suppliers will tell you that you can just swap them for your low voltage lamps. Well you can’t, you need a special transformer to run them, they use so little electricity that your normal transformers don’t know what they are and will run them sometimes and not others, eventually they will fail.

If you have constant voltage transformers then you don’t need to change them otherwise they will cost you about ? 15.00 for each set of five lamps.

You would use LEDs for extreme long life, ridiculously low energy consumption and lower heat output.

The white one is perfect for hotel corridors when you have a fire door at both ends and the heat builds up with 50 watt conventional lamps.

LEDs are the future of lighting in our opinion.

Modern Large Floodlight
Posted on October 25, 2005 @ 3:31 pm [Comments (0)]

We have been searching for a more modern floodlight for this range and have found a little ( well quite big really) gem!

In the floodlight section you will find the new flood which sets the standard for outdoor floods!

The boss has waxed lyrical about it for some time on the webpage and you will find technical details on the more info page.

These floods are ideal for so many uses and are very competitvely priced, especially when you use the five fitting discount in the drop down menu.

We are please to have found a good supply of fluorescent tubes for fish tanks.

They are a branded lamp so we can be assured of the quality and are made by GE.

There are only two versions on the website so far but we will be adding more!

They are both 3ft tubes, one is a 5000 kelvin and the other a 10000 kelvin.

Fish folk will know the importance of these numbers!

Other lengths and a Salt Water Blue version will be available soon.

Often these are used combined with a metal halide lamp, we are able to supply some of those so call us if you need one.

We also sell the contol gear for the metal halide lamps so if you tank light has failed don’t throw it away give us a call!

Pig lamps for hibernation
Posted on October 6, 2005 @ 2:26 pm [Comments (0)]

Pig lamps for hibernation, If you have animals that hibernate and you want to keep them warm this winter then the pig lamps or the dull infra red emitter, to give it it?s proper name is a good solution, they produce heat but no light, so don?t disturb your pets slumbers but do ensure they don?t get cold. Use with a heat lamp shade and you have two settings.

Son lamp prices reduced.

We have a new deal of Son lamps ( high pressure sodium ) and have been able to reduce the prices across the board.
They are all branded lamps so the quality is first class. The box prices are the best as there are greater discounts on box quantities.

Christmas lights,heat lamps and horses
Posted on October 3, 2005 @ 4:46 pm [Comments (1)]

A busy start to the week and the new month, calls are coming in for Christmas lights already as well as lots of enquiries for heat lamps to keep your pets warm for the winter.
We even sold some Pig lamps they are the ones which keep animals warm but don?t produce any light at all they are really called dull emitter lamps but are generally known as pig lamps.
They produce Infra red heat which is only absorbed by flesh not by concrete or other dense material this makes them very efficient at keeping your livestock warm.

This time of year we get a lot of enquiries for lighting arenas or m鮡ge?s for horses, you need white light for this, so Sodium is out, the horses don?t see well in orange light so metal halide is the way forward then the horses can see the trotting poles and fences.
You can light from above if you have a roof , this is best, as it is very even, you?ll need about 10 X 250 watt fittings for a 50metre X30 metre m鮡ge.
If you have to light from the side you have to careful not the blind the horse on one rein and plunge it into darkness on the other, it is better to use several smaller lamps rather than just four or five big ones.
Call us for advice on your m鮡ge and we will try to make sure it is as good as it can be we have CAD programmes that help us get it right.
