Camping Lantern Bulb
Posted on August 24, 2005 @ 12:33 pm [Comments (0)]

Every now and then we really please someone!
Mr C had a wonderfull mains rechargeable camping lantern which he had bought from Marks & Spencer some time ago.
Unfortunatley they could not supply a replacement lamp for it, Marks & Spencer did however very kindly refer Mr C to Commercial Lamp Supplies Ltd.
We were able to supply him from stock and we have told the current retailer of these camping lanterns so that his customers will be able to get replacements when they are needed.
The lamp in question is a single loop PL Fluorescent with 2 pins and a square base.
It is always worth giving us a call if you have a problem getting replacement lamps for almost anything, we just can’t fit all the available lamps onto our website!

Energy Efficient Lighting
Posted on August 23, 2005 @ 10:50 am [Comments (0)]

With the recent increases in electricity prices the focus has been on low energy and energy efficient lighting.

The Philips branded low energy lamps are the Rolls Royce of the bunch, they fire up quickly, the stand the test of time without going that familiar yellow that has been the bain of low energy lamps. They use one fifth of the electricity of a normal lamp!

New to field is an energy efficient dichroic lamp, again from Philips, these are the little 50mm low voltage spot lamps with two pins sticking out the back.

Low voltage lamps are not a low energy product! Many people have taken out of their kitchens a six foot 70 watt fluorescent tube and fitted 8 or 10 low voltage spot lamps which when lit use 50 watts each! So we are recommending the Philips Masterline Energy saver as a good replacement lamp.

The normal 50 watt Dichroic has an average life of 1000hrs; the ES has an average life of 5000hrs! so 4 less lamps to buy and it uses only 30 watts of electricity to produce the same amount of light, so although it costs more per lamp originally the extra life and the reduced power consumption make if cheaper to use!

We Value Our Customer Service

We lost a customer this week, quite a big group, it is always sad but they had been bought by a big company and the guys were told they have to use someone else, as always some renegades carry on till they get found out as they like dealing with us.

A lot of our competitors are very impersonal and as one customer said to me recently “you can’t have a laugh with a vending machine” we value our customers, we like to talk to them, they are people to us not just postcodes and account numbers.

So come on and give us a try and we will see if we can make you laugh as well.

Infra red heat lamps.
Posted on August 18, 2005 @ 4:54 pm [Comments (0)]

The sun has been shinning but we have had several enquiries for infrared heat lamps today, it is odd because they are normally only used in catering during the summer, perhaps they know somthing we don’t about the up-coming weather.
We supplied GE lamps for these orders but we do have most of the common brands such as Philips, Osram and sylvania.
We have some new infra red fittings for warming your patio this autumn much more economical than gas and less dangerous, we will have them on the web site soon.

Philips UV Lamps
Posted on @ 9:57 am [Comments (0)]

During this week we fitted some more Philips UV lamps into a sewage treatment works in Dorset. We are very proud of this lamp as we helped Philips develop the range.
They replace the standard lamps in the Wedeco TAK systems.

They are much cheaper and out-perform the original lamps both in UV output and length of life. We expect to be selling many more of these lamps all over the country as the word spreads to other water companies about its costs, life and performance.

They are used to purify the sewerage effluent before it is discharged in to the sea it makes a great contribution to clean beaches and blue flags.

Chicken Incubator Lamp
Posted on August 17, 2005 @ 2:34 pm [Comments (1)]

We had a lady whose chicken incubator lamp had failed call us yesterday, the light bulb provides just the right amount of heat for the chicks she was so proud of and needed to keep warm!

The lamp she needed was a 15 Watt SES golfball, which is a rare light bulb, although it was not on our website we had some in stock. By now her chicks should be happy and warm again and we wish her well with them.

This is often the case, we have many thousands of light bulbs, fluorescent tubes and other lighting consumables on the shelf but if we added them all to the website it would become too complicated!

Always try the quick search box, just put in any details you know about your lamp and if it is on the site it will most likely be found by this search engine. But if you can’t find what you want or need help deciding what you want just give us a call or send an e-mail and we will help all we can!

Top selling light fitting this month was the coloured Metal Halide floodlight, the casing is black but the light output can be blue, magenta or most popular is the green. Green light makes a garden look fantastic!

They are only 70 watts so they are quite cheap to run. You can change the bulb to change the colour for different seasons.

You can find our Metal Halide Floodlights in our online shop, here.

UV Lighting Revival
Posted on August 9, 2005 @ 10:35 am [Comments (0)]

There has been a big revival in interest in UV lighting lately.

It comes because doctors are finding Antibiotics don’t work as well now as they did in the past.
So instead of trying to cure patients once they have caught the illness the emphasis is switching back to trying to prevent you catching the disease in the first place.

It has been known for many years that UV light kills germs we use it to disinfect the sewerage before it goes out to sea, we have done for many years.

We are building some very powerful disinfection units for the health care sector they need to eradicate this problem of MRSA etc. you can see from that Panorama program that the cleaning isn’t going to do it so something new has to be tried.

We think we have the answers to the problem, progress is slow but we will get there common sense tells you things must change.

Watch this column for news as we role out the new products.
