Description of High Efficiency

This is the latest offering from Philips and is an alternative to the Sylvania Activa daylight tube (the name is strangley similar). They have the advantage of being T5 tubes so are more efficient than the T8 ones

Philips say "Tests show that ActiViva lighting makes people feel more alert, awake and energized, indicating an increase in their performance of 10% or more"

These will help in the reduction of Seasonal Affected Disorder or SAD syndrome and are also good if you work in an environment that has limited natural daylight. They also give superb colour rendering (although it's still not quite as good as the activa!)

They come in two types, Active and Natural. The Active contains 85% more blue light than daylight so it gives a real 'blue sky' effect - we advise that if you are using the ActiViva Active that you change all the surrounding lighting to match

The Natural contains 25% more blue light than daylight so if not as blue as the Active. You can mix the ActiViva natural with your existing lighting if you want

The ActiViva Active is recommended for indirect lighting such as up lighters but if you are using the ActiViva as general lighting we would recommend the natural

High Efficiency tubes are designed for maximum energy saving while High Output lamps are designed for maximum light output. Of course if you are replacing existing tubes you will need to match the wattage

According to research enhanced blue light positively influences well-being which is the whole idea behind these lamps. They have been carefully designed so that they produce a great balance between blue light to make you feel better and the 'normal' light so you can still see!

If you have fittings with T5 tubes (T5 tubes are about 16mm in diameter) then you can just take out the existing tube and replace it with an ActiViva of the same wattage and length - simple as that

If your fittings have the slightly thicker T8 tube (about 26mm in diameter) then you can either use the Sylvania Activa tube or you can use one of the T5 adaptors that we supply - this basically replaces the T8 tube and uses the T5 tube instead - again all you have to do is take out your T8 tube and replace it with the ActiViva plus the adapter (you remove the starter from the fitting too
