Description of Tridonic Sodium or M/Halide

A direct replacement for your existing Soduim or metal halide ballast if it has broken down

Simply select the same wattage as the one you are replacing

Ballasts ( often called Chokes) are part of the operating gear for "Discharge Lamps" such as SON, SOX, Mercury and Metal Halide.

This section deals with the ballast for Sodium Lamps which give an orange light AND Metal Halide lamps, which give a white light and often use "SON" ballasts to operate them. Be sure to correctly identify your gear and lamp! If your metal halide lamp doesnt use son control gear then it will use mercury control gear which which is listed elsewhere in this section.

Son lamps commonly have these brand names, NAV, NAV-E, NAV-T, LUCALOX, SHP-T, SHP-E, SHX and many variations on these!

Metal Halide Lamps are often called HQL, HPIT, HPI, HPIE, HGIE, whitelux, britelux and many others

If you are in doubt as to what you need please call us and we will be able to help you.

If you have a problem with a SON light first check the bulb, then the Ignitor, then the ballast and finally the capacitor, the ballasts are the most reliable part. They are usually damaged by a failed bulb which if not replaced can harm the operating gear
