They need to be changed annually because although they still light up the UV output fades away.

Make sure you always replace your lamp with one of the same wattage as this is what your fitting is designed to run - for example a fitting made to run a 3 ft 30watt tube will not always run a 3ft 55watt tube. If you are in doubt please ask
