Mercury lamps are often known as "Blended", MBFU, MBF, KOLORLUX, HSBL, HPL and HPL COMFORT.

Some have reflectors built into the lamp.

Mercury lamps always have an external ignitor and capacitor.

Mercury lamp gear is often used for metal halide lamps but you have to know what you are doing if you are not replacing like for like with operating gear!

Mercury lamps have a typical life of 15000.
Typically mercury lamps don't exceed 600 watts there are some 1000 watt reflector (spotlight) designs still around but these are increasingly uncommon. If you need these call us as we still know where to get them.
There are specific types of mercury lamps for cold climates let us know if you need these.

We have the self ballasted mercury lamps on another page they don't need any control gear and are very clever I use one in my garage at home it gives very good white light much better than a fluorescent but is economical and has a long life.
The only downside is that if you turn it off it has to cool down before it will turn on again, this is a bit of a nuisance if you forget something when you're going out.
