These are the new generation of low energy lamps they look just GREAT, they are VERY SMALL and fit inside most shades.
These really make changing to low energy lighting very simple.
These lamps are 10,000 hr rated, that is: they are expected to last 10 years if used for 2.7 hour per day!
The saving for each lamp you change will be typically £ 15.00 per lamp per year, as in normal use they will last over 10 years that is a worthwhile saving.
As with all energy saving devices you have to put some capital in first to save later. What is certain the cost of electricity will continue to increase!
11 watts = 50 watts measures 106mm
15 watts = 75 watts and measures 111mm
18 watts = 90watts and measures 123mm
An ordinary light bulb measures around 110mm.

Should you need a smaller lamp or less wattage have a look at the Mini Helix further down this section.

If you replace a 60 watt light bulb with an 11 watt helix you will save almost 80% electricity. A fluorescent, which is what these are, produces little heat and converts most of the power into light, not heat like an incandesant, that’s how they save power.

These lamps are just miniature version of a normal fluorescent fitting and tube which would normally be ceiling mounted. All the control gear to make a fluorescent tube work is shrunk, and fitted inside the base of these lamps.

This type of lamp is also known as:
twister, spiral, helix, compact fluorescent, low energy lamp, pig wig. pigs tail, energy saving lamps.
