These are street lights, they offer very long life and are resonably energy efficient.

They give "orange" light which humans can see very easily and so it appears much lighter than it is, animals cannot see orange as well and so when you walk your dog at night he thinks its dark and wonders how you can see.

The technology is basic the control gear is simple which is why so many are in use.

They have been upgraded with the SOX Plus and SOX E lamps but still remain pretty basic.

Strangely they only come in Bayonet fitting.
