This lamp produces UV light and works just like a disco tube which shows up the whiteners in your clothes.

Apart from decorative uses they are used for testing and inspection where the UV can show up gas leakage etc which is otherwise invisable.

The 125 watt and 400 watt lamp needs control gear.

The 160 watt lamp is self ballasted so it does not need any control gear and can screw straight into a lamp holder with a mains supply.
