They only come in 70 watts and produce the familiar orange light of a street light, the lamp have a very long life approx 20.000 hours.
That's nearly ten years of life at 6 hours per day.
The other big advantage is that they only burn 70 watts but give out the same amount of light of a halogen floodlight of 500 watts.
This means you can afford to leave them on they will only cost 5p to run all night.

The floodlight measures 30cm high, 25 cm wide and the body is 22cm deep, the bracket taken straight back makes the total depth 28cm.

You can switch them on and off with a standard switch they don't require any special kit to operate and they are very easy to wire.

I have had three of these fitted to the outside of my house for nearly five years and they have been subjected to considerable abuse including cleaning with a pressure washer and they have taken it all without any problems.

We also use them in the stables instead of tungsten halogen lamps as they are much much cheaper to run and the orange light doesn't startle the animals.
Not a lot of people know that most animals cannot see very well in orange light human being can see very well in orange light that is why they are used so much for street lights, this makes them ideal for farmyard lighting or any where you don't want to alarm the wildlife.
There is a version which has a built in photocell this automatically switches the light on at sunset and off again at daybreak.
Personally I prefer to use a time clock they are very cheap and reliable these days I just use the ones you plug into a normal socket, we do have to change the settings when the clocks go forward and back but it means we can have the lights on from dusk to 10 pm then again at 6 am until it light which suits us better.
