Ignitors are part of a "DISCHARGE" lamps operating gear.
Ignitors provide the initial arc to fire up the lamp, should the lamp fail it will continuously try to start the arc and so ignitors are often damaged by failed lamps that are not replaced quickly!
You can buy the most common ones here on line, but we have wide stocks of ignitors, too many to list here, so call 01392 44 66 66 if you don't see the one you need or are not sure if the correct ignitor is fitted!
Discharge lamps can be "Son", "Sox", "Mercury" and "Metal Halide" so there are many types of ignitor and then they vary according to the wattage of the lamp as well!

If you do call please try to have all the components or their markings at hand, the lamp, the ballast, the ignitor (although some lamps have internal ones!) and the capacitor. We need to know each component to make sure they all match to ensure they will work and give good service.

Discharge lamp technology is not "Rocket Science" you just have to be careful and precise. Discharge lamps can be considered a low energy option and indeed the Inland Revenue have recognised this by giving tax relief on Metal Halide lighting conversions.

The best thing about ignitors is they have a wiring diagram on them!

Don't be misguided by the application specified on the ignitor (ie 150w son) as they will often work other lamps as well, we can advise you if you provide all the information about the operating gear and lamp.
