These are found in many down lighters and projector lamps, track spotlights and display lighting.
They give an intense white light that does not fade with age; they are very efficient giving a huge light output per watt of energy consumed.
The only run in dedicated fittings on appropriate control gear.
The wattages are not interchangeable unless you change the control gear as well.
They come in two colour tones warm white and cool white the difference is very noticeable so be careful to identify the one you are using the warm usually has WDL on it and the cool white NDL.
The length varies with the manufacturer we only supply the shortest and so we can be sure they will fit in all fittings.

This is most often used as a display lamp sometimes a flood light, its compact size and powerful performance make it ideal for lighting showrooms. Shop windows, exhibitions etc.
Metal halide lamps do not distort colours, as most fluorescent tubes do, and so for instance your motor car is shown in it's true glory red is red blue is blue.
They do not go "creamy" with age and so your products always look pristine.
There are 2 colour tones available and it is important that you match up if you have several fittings otherwise it looks dreadful.
There wattages from 70 to 250 watts they are not interchangeable unless you change the control gear as well.

These are the latest generation of metal halide display lamps; also known a CDMT. CDM-T, CMH arcstream, power star and powerball. dependent on manufacturer.
they have all of the attributes of the compact metal halides but have greater " sparkle" which is maintained throughout their life.
They are very small and are mainly used on shop displays wall washing and spot lighting merchandise, there is no reason you cannot use the in a domestic setting but they do need dedicated light fittings and control gear.
They can be retrofitted into fitting using the standard compact metal halide to improve performance.
