These lamps produce a crisp white light, which shows colours correctly, these can be used for display purposes as well as general lighting.
These lamps offer the most light per watt consumed of any other lamps in normal use their output is astonishing.
They are generally preferred in workshops or machine shops where accuracy and detail is important.
The lamps do not have the extreme life of the sodium lamps but still offer 20.000 hours, which is up to 5 years in normal use.

The mercury lamps are not as efficient as the metal halide lamps but they do produce white light, it is "soft" light much less aggressive than the metal halide and some customers prefer this.
The lamps are cheaper to replace than the other types.
Other benefits of mercury are simplicity of circuits, reliability, and cost.

These are the common industrial light fittings used in warehouses and factories.
They can be ceiling mounted or most commonly suspended on chains.
They are used anywhere that large areas have to be lit economically and with the minimum of maintenance.
The Sodium lamps are the same as are used in streetlights, they are very reliable and long lasting but do produce orange light, this is fine for most purposes but not if you need to be able to see colours clearly and accurately, for this you should use the metal halide version which gives white light.
There are several versions of the sodium (SON) lamps these are shown on the Sodium lamp page, each has slightly different characteristics but in general, the performance is similar.

This version of the low bay fitting is designed for horticultural use, these come fitted with a growth enhancing lamp which will not only greatly accelerate the growth of your plants but also increase the yield by stimulating improved branching greater strength and volume.
The lamps vary in name from one manufacturer to the next but the main names are Growlux, Planta, son aggro, plantastar, britegrow, growlights and green power.
They all have the same characteristics and there is nothing to choose between them.
These fittings come with all the necessary control gear and only require a simple mains supply to operate.
They can be ceiling mounted or suspended on chains.
There are 600-watt versions available but we do not consider the increased performance to be worth the extra money, the 600watts are considerably more expensive not only to buy but also to run. If you really want 600 watts please call for a quote.
