You can use a Triphosphor tube (listed below) in your fitting without any modification and they are will actually do a better job for longer!

Also called striplights, tubelights and for some reason neons.

They are one inch in diameter.

These are the basic fluorescent tubes which are common throughout the land.

They are energy efficient, have along life and are inexpensive.

You identify which one you need from the wattage which is written on the end of the tube.

There are various "colour tones" available from warm white to cool white.

There are several improved versions of the basic fluo tube the most popular is the triphosphor tube which lasts twice as long, gives 12% more light for the same wattage, they don't flicker and they show colours much more truly, ordinary tubes distort colours.

These tubes are a dramtic improvement over the basic fluo tube, its a bit like a mercedes verses a mondeo, they both do basically the same job but one does it much better and for a much longer time.

They are one inch in diameter.

They can fit in all your existing fittings you don't need new ones, they don't flicker, they give 12% more light output and last twice as long, they don't go "creamy" with age either.

All around a superior product which in our opinion offers better value than the basic tubes.

Substantial discounts for boxes of 25 and if you need a large number please call us for a quote.

These are the real SAD tubes, true natural daylight from normal fluorescent light fittings, you do not need expensive light boxes with all their wild claims the Activa is the proper way to combat SAD syndrome, also known as winter depression.
They do not need special light fittings and so are ideal for your offices as well as at home.
You get the benefits all the time the light is switched on you do not have to set aside a special time to stare at a light box.
They work by stimulating the Pineal gland and fooling your brain into thinking it is enjoying a nice bit of sunshine, just what you need on the dark days of winter.
The quality of the light is superb, it is very easy on the eye not at all intense, it doesn’t need to be mega bright to work, it is the spectrum that is important and the Activa delivers 98% of the natural spectrum including all the important bits.

We have been selling these tubes for many years and we use them in our own offices, (you are welcome to visit us and check if you wish).
What normally happens is a customer will buy perhaps 6 or 10 tubes for a trial in an area of their offices or building, within 2 weeks they are back buying enough for the rest of the offices, their employees all want the “good lamps” as well, once you have worked with them you will not want to go back to ordinary fluorescent tubes.
Another benefit is the quality of way the tubes show colours correctly, normal fluorescents distort colours Activas don’t.
They are absolutely ideal for use where you have little or no natural daylight in a room they cannot replace a view but they can replace the natural daylight you may be missing.
Beware of imitations, we hear of them all the time, some very wild claims are made for all types of products; we have complete confidence in the Activa which is born from long term use and customer satisfaction not from advertising hype.

Also known as fat tubes and strip lights, these are the original fluorescent tubes.

They are one and a half inches in diameter otherwise twelve eighths of an inch hence their real name T12 tubes

The 8 FT 100w and 125w tubes are becoming obsolete - we can still source them but two of the major manufacturers have stopped making them. We would advise replacing them if possible (you could use a 6ft twin fitting for example) as we dont know how much longer we will be able to source them. We do supply single 8ft lamps and ship them in a strong cardboard tube to make sure they get to you in one piece.

A lot of people have changed to the slim line versions which are more energy efficient; they fit in the same fittings without any modification.

Some people still prefer the larger tubes and some very old fittings cannot use the slim tubes, you can tell whether they are too old because they will not have a starter on the side.

The light output of the slim tubes is actually slightly greater but some people just prefer the larger area.

With the 8 foot tubes there are two common wattages the 100 watt will go into any 8ft light fitting and will work, the 125 watt tube will only work in a 125 watt fitting.

We have now sold out of our remaining 85 watt tubes but we do have an alternative product that can be retrofitted - please contact us for details

Starters

The price above is for a box of TEN STARTERS.
There are two main types of starter, electronic and conventional starters.
The advantages of an electronic starters are, they "soft start " which extends the life of the tubes, reduced flickering, will cut out on tube failure they simply stop the tube rather then let it strobe,
Electronic starters will work with any length tube.
Ordinary starters are specific to certain lengths.
For 2 ft tubes in multi tube fittings you need a series starter FS2 as the lamps share a ballast.
Up to 5 ft an FSUstarter is required.
6 ft 70 watt tubes need an S16 starter.
above 6 ft you need an FS125.
